About me

I am a theatre design graduate with a strong passion for design, currently working at At Last Events, where I design and deliver pop-up installations, branded environments, and scenic elements for major clients. My background spans scenic art, workshops, and large-scale graphics production, allowing me to develop designs from initial concept through to final build.

My Timeline

Education

I studied Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent University, where I gained a wide range of creative and technical skills including SketchUp, AutoCAD, model making, scenic artistry, and sculpting. The course encouraged both conceptual thinking and practical execution, allowing me to explore design from initial idea through to final build.

Although the degree covered many hands-on disciplines, I was always drawn most strongly to the design side of the process; developing concepts, visual storytelling, and creating cohesive design solutions. This experience laid the groundwork for my design-led approach and my interest in working across multiple creative fields.

2019 - 2022

Scenic Artist Assistant

After graduating, I took on a hands-on role to better understand how design concepts are translated into physical environments. While working as a Scenic Artist Assistant, I developed a range of scenic artistry techniques and contributed creatively to how designs were interpreted and brought to life.

This role reinforced the importance of design within the wider production process; from maintaining the original creative intent to understanding practical constraints, collaboration, and execution. I worked on several theatre productions, with Sucker Punch being a particular highlight, later becoming a touring production sponsored by the National Theatre.

2022-2023

Workshop Assistant & Freelance Scenic Creative

2023-2024

I went on to work as a Workshop Assistant at Wise Productions while also freelancing for True Staging, gaining experience within larger-scale commercial and event-led environments. These roles marked a shift in pace from theatre, while still allowing me to develop as a creative.

Alongside making and installation, I contributed design input through collaboration with lead designers, particularly around textures, finishes, and the development of set and event pieces. Working across multiple projects and with a wide range of designers gave me valuable insight into different creative approaches, workflows, and production scales.

This period strengthened my understanding of how design operates within large teams and real-world constraints, and ultimately clarified my desire to move into design as a primary role.

I moved into a graphic design role at At Last where I worked on the design of large-scale corporate event schemes. This marked a clear step into design as my primary focus, allowing me to apply my creative background within a new context.

In this role, I developed my skills across Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva, contributing to visual concepts that needed to be both engaging and functional at scale. My previous experience in theatre and production gave me a strong understanding of the full design process; from concept development through to real world application and the importance of designing with clarity, intention, and feasibility in mind.

This role reinforced my passion for design, and confirmed my desire to continue working in roles where thoughtful design is central to the creative outcome.

Graphic Designer

2024-2025

Lead Designer

I am now working as a Lead Designer at At Last, a role that has marked a significant step forward in my design career. Taking on greater responsibility has taught me the importance of ownership, from shaping initial concepts through to delivering confident, resolved design outcomes.

This role has strengthened my belief in design as a form of creative expression, while also reinforcing the need to continually develop my skills, refine my process, and stay curious. Drawing on my background across theatre, production, and graphic design, I approach each project with a strong understanding of collaboration, execution, and the impact of well-considered design.

At this stage in my career, I feel ready to continue growing as a designer, taking on new challenges and pushing my creative practice further.
